What Is Remote Online Notarization?
Remote Online Notarization, often called RON, allows an eligible electronic document to be notarized through a secure platform using live audio-video communication.
The signer and notary meet online, complete identity verification, communicate in real time, and electronically sign the document. The notary then applies an electronic signature, seal, and notarial certificate.
A registered Florida online notary must be physically located in Florida while performing the online notarization. The signer and participating witnesses may be located somewhere else, subject to the document’s requirements and applicable law.
What Is a Mobile Notary Appointment?
A mobile notary appointment takes place in person at a location selected in advance.

Under Florida law, the signer does not have to be physically present in Florida, provided the Florida online notary is located in Florida and the online notarization meets the applicable requirements.

An online appointment removes travel time and allows the signing to take place through a compatible computer, tablet, or mobile device.
